Building Implosion at Pack & Paddle
This is our locals version of a building implosion. We're cleaning out back near our warehouse to create a brand new kayak yard! In case you don't know him, Will Daley works for us at P&P building displays, fixing problems, and now... tearing down buildings.
Becky and I really enjoy hiking, canoeing and spending time outdoors. We ride our bicycles to work and the grocery and everywhere that's feasible. We have one son (24 years old and married!) who is in graduate school studying physics at the University of Georgia in Athens.
In 2006, we hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. While that's our longest trip, we've done trips in Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, California and probably a couple of states I am forgetting about. Our favorite paddling trip is probably the Buffalo River in northern Arkansas. Our favorite hikes are the Eagle Rock Loop in Arkansas, The John Muir Trail in California, the Wonderland Trail in Washington state, and the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine.
We are the owners of an outdoor shop called Pack & Paddle. Our site is www.packpaddle.com. We do a little bit of everything there, but what we like best is teaching clinics and leading trips.
The Ominvore's Delimma - This book is challenging to read - but covers the industrial food chain as well as the modern organic food movement. Tough read - but very worthwhile.
The Last American Man - The story of Eustace Conway, who grew up developing amazing survival and native american skills. He has lived in the primitive way since he was 17 and this book is an eye opening view into what makes him tick. Highly recommended.
